I also found a January 2026 DOJ press release from the Western District of Tennessee explicitly stating that the “Department of War assigns 20 military lawyers to serve as Special Assistant U.S. Attorneys.” This shows this kind of staffing move is real in some districts.

The official record supports Guantánamo Bay as a real military-commission site, with the Office of Military Commissions listing Guantánamo Bay, Fort Meade, and CCTV sites as its facilities.
