The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has a program called the "Invention Secrecy Act of 1951."
Under this law, any patent that is deemed a "threat to national security" can be classified and HIDDEN from the public.
As of 2023, there are 6,012 active secrecy orders on patents.
