Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense detected a significant surge in Chinese military aircraft activity near the island.

Taiwan tracked 26 Chinese military aircraft operating around the island. Of these, 16 entered Taiwan's Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) in the northern, central, and southwestern sectors. Additionally, 7 Chinese naval ships were spotted in the surrounding waters.This marked a notable increase following an unusual period of reduced activity. From late February through early March 2026, Chinese PLA Air Force (PLAAF) sorties into Taiwan's ADIZ had dropped sharply—often to zero on many days, with the lowest monthly totals since mid-2024.
