How a blockchain voting system would work (conceptually)

Think of it as three layers, not “just blockchain.”

🧩 Layer 1: Voter identity & ballot delivery

Voter is verified using:

government ID,

voter registration,

sometimes a mailed code or credential (USPS idea involved mail + digital).

The voter receives:

a ballot or voting credential,

a unique cryptographic token.

Blockchain does not verify identity by itself. That happens before any blockchain use.

Voter casts a vote (via app, web, or device).

The vote is:

encrypted,

anonymized (ideally),

converted into a transaction.
