A building has collapsed near Satya Niketan in South-West Delhi. The fire department received an alert around 1:30 PM. The rescue operation is underway.

At least one death has been confirmed, two people are in critical condition at AIIMS, and six to seven individuals have been successfully rescued from the rubble so far. Eyewitnesses and officials fear that 30 to 40 students could still be trapped beneath the debris

According to preliminary local inquiries and police statements, the structure collapsed at approximately 1:30 PM while unauthorized or risky repair work was being actively undertaken in the basement. Eyewitnesses reported that laborers were renovating the ground floor to create commercial rental spaces, which severely compromised the building's already weak lower pillars and foundation. Recent heavy monsoon rains are also being looked at as a contributing structural factor.
