The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) tabled multiple critical audit reports on Indian Railways in Parliament,
highlighting severe gaps in basic amenities, financial irregularities, and unexecuted safety projects

1. Passenger Amenities & Sanitation Defects

Missing Infrastructure: About 89% of inspected stations (Out of 512 inspected,458 stations) lacked basic amenities like fans, shelters, and urinals.

Contaminated Water: Water at major hubs tested positive for E. coli due to inadequate chlorination.

Unspent Budgets: The Railways failed to spend 36% to 44% of its passenger amenity funds annually.

2. Financial Mismanagement & Overcharging

Wrongful Surcharges: Passengers were overcharged ₹168 crore for "Superfast" trains that failed to meet minimum speed thresholds.

Lease Violations: Government grants were improperly used to repay lease capital instead of using internal railway revenues.

3. Safety Backlogs & Asset Failures

Delayed Safety Works: Over 20,000 critical safety projects remained incomplete, risking operational safety.

Failed Land Monetisation: The RLDA failed to commercialise any of its 1,000 acres of vacant land, losing massive revenue.

International filmmaker Mike Noone shared his experience in a now-viral Instagram Reel titled “American hospitalised in India”, in which he revealed that he fell ill just five days into his trip to India.
Mike shared that he had been travelling through Odisha when he began experiencing severe vomiting after overeating local food. Sharing an update from his hospital bed, he joked about being treated with IV fluids and anti-nausea medication.

Mike revealed that he had been vomiting every 15 minutes for around 12 hours, which landed him in a hospital. However, he clarified that his illness was not caused by food poisoning.
“Stop, stop, stop. I can feel you stereotyping from there. This wasn’t food poisoning; this was overindulgence. The food was so good I ate too much of it like an idiot,” he said

Mike shared that he was not charged for the treatment at the government hospital. “Instead, these damn socialists didn’t charge me one cent. It made me sick,” he added.

Vikram Solar has inaugurated a 6 GW solar module manufacturing facility at Gangaikondan, Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu.

Europe has emerged as the top destination for India’s electric car shipments in Q1 FY26, with over 83% of EV exports going westward.

Spain and the UK led the surge, accounting for 35.6% and 25.2% of India’s EV exports to Europe.

Maruti Suzuki’s eVitara drove much of this, with 97% share of India’s EV exports in Q1 and over 41,000 units shipped to 47 countries.
