Pakistan says they won Basmati rice wording case against India

The Federal Court of Australia dismissed an appeal by India's Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), rejecting India's bid to secure exclusive certification trademark rights for the word "Basmati" and ordering APEDA to pay costs.

Court Ruling Details -

Core Decision: The court upheld the previous rejection of India's trademark application, affirming that Basmati is a shared geographical indication.

Equal Rights: The decision recognizes that Basmati rice is grown in both Pakistan and India, giving traders from both countries a legitimate right to use the term.

No Monopoly: No single national authority can claim exclusive ownership or monopoly over the word "Basmati" in the Australian market.

Now Pakistan will organise a victory parade because now they can finally sell their duplicate basmati rice!!

India’s own Big 4? PMO holds meeting today to push for homegrown consulting firms #aatmanirbharbharat https://t.co/GqTAI5s8Su
The Dept of Expenditure has issued clear advice on awarding govt consultancy contracts.

Eligibility criteria like turnover, experience, and staff strength must be proportionate to the project.

Earlier, unnecessarily high requirements limited competition to a few big firms.

Now, this change will level the playing field for Indian consultancies and new entrants on GeM. #Policy

Indian Railways has deployed Gajraj AI to protect elephants near railway tracks.

The AI uses cameras + sensors to detect when elephants approach tracks and instantly sends alerts to train drivers and control rooms.

This gives trains time to slow down or stop, helping elephants cross safely.

It’s being used in elephant corridors and has already reduced train-elephant accidents. #Railways #Ai #Environment

On the Indus Waters Treaty, Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah says

"...Our lifeblood has been drained; these are our rivers, and we had the primary right to them. Pakistan claims to be a great sympathizer of the Kashmiris, but when it comes to the issue of water, that sympathy vanishes. Where was this sympathy when we were stripped of the right to utilize our own rivers? We have been bearing the brunt of this Indus Waters Treaty ever since... The Indus Waters Treaty is suspended, and it should remain suspended so that we can make proper use of this water."
