Mirabai Chanu Wins India's first CWG 2026 Gold Medal, her 3rd in CWG

It wasn't just another gold medal for Mirabai Chanu — it was a night of record-breaking dominance. The Indian weightlifting star walked away with four records in the women's 48kg event.

She first set a new Commonwealth Games snatch record with 82kg before raising the bar to 85kg, which established a new Commonwealth snatch record. In the clean and jerk, Mirabai's successful 105kg lift created a new Commonwealth Games record, and her combined 190kg total also became a new Commonwealth Games total record.

A historic night for one of India's greatest weightlifters, who capped it off with a third consecutive Commonwealth Games gold medal.

Nepal has ended a decade-old curb and now allows Indian and Nepalese nationals to carry Indian ₹200 and ₹500 notes issued on/after Nov 9, 2016, up to ₹25,000 per person, as notified by Nepal Rastra Bank. The restriction was imposed after India’s 2016 demonetisation.
