♦️ 3 US epidemiologists, including Lt. Col. Vanessa Melanson (formerly with the US Army), arrived in Dhaka under US Embassy supervision.

♦️ Adam Crawley and Vanessa Melanson checked into The Hotel Westin, Gulshan on July 11 (staying until July 17 and 18), while Stephanie Fazekas Salyer arrived on July 12 (staying until July 26).

♦️ 3 additional American officials with security backgrounds also checked into the same hotel during the period.

♦️ Melanson, formerly a Principal Investigator at USAMRIID, conducted biodefence research and contributed to Ebola and Marburg vaccine development.

♦️ Crawley, a CDC epidemiologist affiliated with UC Berkeley, specialises in public health preparedness, disease surveillance, and outbreak detection.

♦️ Salyer, a CDC veterinary epidemiologist, has led One Health, pandemic preparedness, zoonotic disease control, and global disease surveillance programmes across Georgia (US), Kazakhstan, Colombia, Seychelles, and Switzerland.

🇻🇪🙏 — The death toll from last month’s twin earthquakes in Venezuela has risen to 5,069.
