Building a refinery from scratch in the middle of the Dornogovi desert means dealing with freezing winters and scorching summers. India's MEIL Group is currently on the ground in , constructing the country's first domestic oil refinery.

The project includes establishing core processing units, a dedicated power plant, and distillation systems. Once active, this facility will process 1.5 million tonnes of crude oil a year, so Mongolia will no longer have to rely entirely on neighbours for its fuel.

IIT Bombay's researchers led by Prof. Dipanshu Bansal, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, have successfully generated high-frequency surface acoustic waves up to 16.5 GHz directly in monolithic silicon with record-low signal loss. This demonstration paves the way for integrating ultra-fast 5G/6G filters, advanced biosensors, and quantum processors into the standard #semiconductor chips that power our modern world. By mastering the "geometry of sound" through higher-order modes, the team has bypassed traditional manufacturing hurdles to deliver faster, more scalable technology. #Research

IIT Guwahati developed hybrid perovskite semiconductor platform for high-efficiency solar cells + neuromorphic computing. Led by Prof Parameswar K Iyer.

Key points:
• Solar cells: Used molecular interface engineering with donor-acceptor organic molecules to cut interface losses. Achieved 25.73% power conversion efficiency - among best perovskite solar cells globally.

• Neuromorphic computing: Same FA-based perovskite material used for memristor memory devices. 220nm active layer gave stable low-power switching, good endurance, multistate memory - key for low-energy future hardware. #Solar #Semiconductor #Research
