Alongside his role as CDS, he will also function as the Secretary of the Department of Military Affairs (DMA).
Prior to this appointment, he was serving as the Military Adviser at the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS).
He has also served as Vice Chief of the Army Staff and the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Central Command.
He has received Param Vishisht Seva Medal (PVSM), Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM), Sena Medal (SM), and Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM).
