IRFC signed a ₹13,527 cr 20-year term loan with L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad to refinance Hyderabad Metro debt.

The move follows Telangana govt’s 100% takeover of L&TMRHL, making it state-owned. Refinancing replaces high-cost NCDs, commercial papers, and loans with cheaper rupee debt, no fees or prepayment penalties.

Backed by state guarantee and RBI debit mandate, it improves financial stability for the 69.2 km, 57-station PPP metro serving 5+ lakh daily riders and supports future expansion.
