🇯🇵🤝🇮🇳 Tokyo has offered to give Delhi the plans to its US$500-million Mogami-class ship so that it can be built in India using Japanese materials. Move comes after Japan's amendment of defence tech transfer policy on 21st April.

Japan wants India to be the security provider for the security of the Indian Ocean. If Japan, Australia and India were to deploy the same Mogami-class frigates, they could also perform maintenance on each other’s warships in their respective ports.

Policy Reforms:

Previously, HVDC Substations had a flat 60% Minimum Local Content (MLC) requirement. The revised order introduces a phased roadmap for HVDC Substations (LCC Type).

Updated MLC requirements are:

-30% until 31st March 2028
-40% from 1st April 2028 to 31st March 2030
-50% from 1st April 2030 to 31st March 2032
-60% from 1st April 2032 to 31st March 2035

This gradual increase ensures a realistic transition for manufacturers and EPC contractors while achieving long-term localization goals.
