What if The Constitution (One Hundred and Thirty-First Amendment) Bill,2026 fails to pass in the Parliament ?

1. No Implementation of 106th Constitutional Amendment Act, 2023 reserving 33% seats for Women until next Census data.

2. Article 81 stays with Lok Sabha capped at 550 seats

3. Article 82 stays which will trigger after 2027 Census unfreezing the Delimitation Exercise

So if Lok Sabha is capped at 550 seats and Census 2027 data is taken for Delimitation, each state seats will be readjusted according to the population reflecting in 2027 Census data. (i.e States with low TFR might lose seats based on population and vice-versa)

IMPORTANT –

1. Center is bound by the Constitution to conduct a Delimitation Exercise post 2026 using the latest Census data according to Article 82, unless a Constitutional Amendment further pushes to freeze the Delimitation Exercise in the future.

2. Delimitation Commision is an independent body appointed by the Hon'ble President of India whose decisions are bared from Judicial Reviews under Article 329, further under Section 10(2) of Delimitation Act,2002 its decisions are Final and Bounding.
