Qatar has condemned the US-Israeli strikes on the South Pars gas field.

Qatar and Iran share the world’s largest natural gas field, with about 6,000 sq km in Qatar (North Dome) and 3,700 sq km in Iran (South Pars).

Each side is developed separately by QatarEnergy and Iran’s National Iranian Oil Company, but both draw from the same resource. Qatar has more effectively exploited its share, producing about 7x more, and becoming a leading LNG exporter, while Iran’s development has lagged under sanctions and limited investment.

Despite regional tensions, both countries have generally maintained coordination to manage extraction from the shared field. #Energy
