French President Macron confirms France lost its Chief Warrant Officer (Subedar Major rank equivalent) to the Iranian strike.
Chasseurs Alpins is the French special forces which specialises in Mountain warfare. And Iran is 50% mountains, with over 16% mountains 2000m above sea level.
There are reports that French Special Forces were deployed to lead a Kurdish assault into Iran. The Iranians found out and attacked the French, disabling the operation before it could begin. #Geopolitics
