Too much controversy happening on this news.

Both Indians and foreigners are saying India "betrayed" Iran by not protecting the warship from the American submarine.

Here are some facts -
1. The 🇮🇷 ship IRIS Dena was docked at Vishakapatnam for the International Fleet and Ex. MILAN. As long as it was in Indian EEZ, the ship was under our protection. We are not going to babysit a military vessel (whose country is an active combatant) in International waters.

2. The movements of a nuclear submarine are almost impossible to track for any Navy in the vast Indian Ocean. And Indian Navy's resources are occupied with protecting our interests in Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman. We could have never seen this coming and warned anyone.

3. Iranians could have formally asked New Delhi for refuge, and we would have provided, but for some reason they did not do so. Now it's learnt that another Iranian ship is seeking refuge at Colombo Port.

If India would have denied Iran's request for refuge, it would be an act worth the outrage, but how can India be expected to take the blame for this?
