Thanks to new MMDR framework, Coal India secured a composite (single) licence for a mineral concession covering the Kawalapur REE & RM block in Maharashtra, allowing CIL to carry out exploration & later convert it to a mining lease if conditions are met *within ~5 years
Kawalapur block is a monazite belt & preliminary exploration by GSI suggests Light (LREEs): Cerium ( most abundant), Lanthanum, Neodymium , Praseodymium, Samarium & Heavy (HREEs): Yttrium (dominant), Dysprosium, Gadolinium #Mining
