It’s great that 3,300+ critical infrastructure projects worth ₹85 lakh crore are being monitored at the highest level using a sophisticated tech platform. That’s governance doing its job.

But the data is revealing. 35% of major project bottlenecks stem from land acquisition, and another 38% are linked to forests, wildlife clearances and RoW.

Like it or not, India’s land acquisition law has made infrastructure slower and far more expensive, and no amount of monitoring can fully offset that. In a country like India, infrastructure projects inevitably pay a “democrazy penalty.”
