2025 has been a revolutionary year when it comes to policy #reforms unlocking the economy

This year alone, India pushed through:
• GST rationalised to two rates (5% & 18%)
• 29 labour laws merged into four codes (covering 643 million workers)
• Income-tax overhaul: no tax up to ₹12 lakh, new IT Act
• 100% FDI in insurance
• Nuclear power opened to private investment
• MSME limits expanded, compliance eased
• 200+ offences decriminalised, QoC scrapped for 76 products
• Securities Market Code, new criminal laws, e-evidence
• MGNREGA days raised to 125 even while reforming in to incentivise building enduring assets
• Growth still 8%, inflation cooling

What’s missing now is state governments across parties waking up(hopefully pushed by sustained urban citizen pressure) to fix shambolic municipal governance: basic roads, reliable public transport, faster metro construction, walkable streets, cleaner cities, and waste & sanitation.

Macro-economically India is largely sorted.

Mexico formalized a new series of import tariffs on Tuesday on countries with which it does not have a free trade agreement.

The measure, enacted by the Ministry of Economy, imposes tariffs of up to 35% on imports from Asian countries such as China, India, South Korea, Thailand and Indonesia and takes effect on Jan 1.

As per reports Construction of First 2 Units of S5 Class SSBN Submarine have already started under the Advance Technology Vessel Project (ATVP) under PMO Direct Supervision

1. With 13,500 ton displacement S5 Class SSBN will be twice the size of Arihant-Class SSBN (6000-7000), first units will enter service in early 2030s

2. Will be bigger than China’s 11,000 Ton Type 094 (Jin-Class SSBN), although China is building a bigger 20,000 Tons Type 096 (Tang-Class SSBN)

3. S5 will likely carry 12 or 16 K5 (6000 km) or K6 (8000-10000 km est.) SLBMs

4. Will be powered by indigenously built 200 MW CLWR-B2 Nuclear Reactor. This reactor will power all S5 Class Submarine & Project-77 SSN Submarines

In a rare intervention, the Hyderabad bench of the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) on Monday removed the current Director General and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BrahMos Aerospace, Jaiteerth R Joshi.

The crisis arose after Joshi was appointed CEO, a decision contested by Naidu, who claimed he had been superseded despite being the senior-most candidate. Naidu, a Distinguished Scientist, is seven years senior to Joshi and has served as an Outstanding Scientist since 2017. With only three years left in service, compared to Joshi’s six, Naidu’s plea emphasises his seniority and experience.
