The Department of Telecommunications directed major makers like Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, Vivo, and Oppo to preload the undeletable Sanchar Saathi app on all new devices sold in India, with 90 days to comply from the November 28 order. The app lets users block stolen phones nationwide, verify IMEls, check fraudulent SIMs, and report spam -already helping recover over 700,000 lost devices and block millions of fraud links.
