Despite India’s ambitious pitch to host the 2036 Olympic Games in Ahmedabad, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has delivered a blunt message:
“Put your house in order first.”

🔻 The IOC flagged three major concerns:
1️⃣ Governance Crisis in IOA:
•Infighting, legal disputes, and irregular functioning have weakened India’s Olympic body.
•IOC has even paused its funding to IOA due to these unresolved issues.

2️⃣ Doping Concerns:
•India continues to face a high number of doping cases across sports.
•The IOC demanded reforms and stricter controls via NADA.

3️⃣ Underwhelming Olympic Performance:
•India’s Olympic medal tally is still modest for a country of 1.4 billion.
•Performance improvement is essential to justify hosting the Games.

🏁 On top of this, IOC has paused the 2036 host selection process entirely — delaying any official announcement until deeper reviews and governance reforms are complete.
