A little more on INS Talwar Class Frigate

INS Tamal is an upgraded version of the INS Talwar Class (designed by Russia for the Indian Navy) orginal design were taken from Russian Admiral Grigorovich class.

The first batch made under INS Talwar Class consisted of 6 Frigates. An additional order of 4 Frigates were given by the Indian Navy later on.

2 Ships (INS Tushil & INS Tamal built in Russia have been delivered) while the other 2 Ships are under construction in Goa Shipyard Limited.

Mazagon Dock Limited (MDL) today delivered the Second Stealth Frigate of the Nilgiri Class (P17A Class) Udaygiri to the Indian Navy.

A total of 7 Ships are to be built by MDL & GSRE under the Nilgiri Class Frigates. Commissioning of Udaygiri into the Indian Navy is expected by August 2025

These new Generation Frigates will form the Carrier Battle Group (CBG) of INS Vikrant.
