New Inter-Services Organisations Act Rules (India, 2025)

⦁ The new rules empower joint commanders of Inter-Services Organisations (ISOs)—which include personnel from the Army, Navy, and Air Force—to have full command, control, and disciplinary authority over all members, regardless of their parent service.

⦁ This is a big shift from the old system, where only officers from the same service could exercise such powers over their own personnel. Now, a joint commander (say, from the Army) can give orders and take disciplinary action over Navy and Air Force personnel posted in the ISO too.

⦁ It strengthens "jointness"—meaning better coordination and integration—among the three armed forces.

⦁ It helps pave the way for more efficient and unified functioning of joint commands, like the future Integrated Theatre Commands, where all three services operate together for specific missions or regions.
