Union Cabinet approves the proposal of One Nation One Election. #Policy
The Committee recommends that 'One Nation, One Election' be implemented in two phases. In the first phase: Lok Sabha and Assembly elections to be conducted simultaneously. In the second phase- local body elections (panchayat and municipalities) to be conducted within 100 days of general elections. There should be a common electoral roll for all elections. The committee recommends initiating detailed discussions throughout the country and the constitution of an implementation group.
