India aims to produce 100 GW nuclear power by 2047: AEC Chairman Mohanty.

Mohanty said a vision document for 'Amrit Kaal' was being prepared by the Department of Atomic Energy which envisages reaching a nuclear capacity of about 100 GW by 2047.

He said the breeder reactors would contribute 3 GW of nuclear power, while 17.6 GW would come from light water reactors built with international cooperation and another 40-45 GW would come from the pressurised heavy water reactors.

Today we produce 206 GW of Energy by coal which accounts for 85% of total Energy options, so we can compare how much Nuclear capacity will increase.

🥇 The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) stood out with its continued accumulation of gold reserves.

Weekly data from the RBI revealed a 6-tonne increase in gold holdings in February alone.

This brings the total year-to-date buying by the RBI to over 13 tonnes, with total gold reserves now reaching 817 tonnes.

So India now has more Gold reserves than Saudi Arabia and UK at 817 Tons.

For comparison, US has 8133 tons of Gold reserves and China has 2257 tons of Gold reserves.

Govt may shelve Rs 2-trn freight corridor plan

🚆 The move comes in the wake of the railways having to hard-sell the recently commissioned east and west freight corridors to potential bulk customers, and the issues that have cropped up of the network planning of these projects.

🛤 The government is likely to abandon the plan to set up three more dedicated freight corridors (DFCs) – East Coast, East-West and North-South – at an estimated combined cost of Rs 2 trillion.

🚈 The Centre may instead opt for a few commodity-specific rail networks, a senior railway official told.
