NHAI to Refurbish Highways connecting Lucknow to Kanpur, Ayodhya & Nepal

🛣️For Kanpur & Ayodhya highways, 100 mm of bitumen will be laid over the existing highways, along with other crucial repair works.

🛣️ Work on both these highways targeted to be completed before the onset of monsoon.

🛣️Rs 350 cr have been reserved for the 120 km long Polytechnic to Ayodhya National Highway.

🛣️Rs 100 cr has been set aside for complete overhaul and repair of the 47 km long stretch between Bani and Jajmau Ganga bridge on the Lucknow-Kanpur route.

🛣️NHAI is also working on setting up a greenfield expressway between Lucknow, Unnao and Kanpur.

🛣️For the Nepal highway, an agency is been shortlisted for widening Barabanki-Rupaidiha stretch. A budget of more than Rs 3,000 crore would be required for land acquisition and widening of the 160-km-long roadwhich would act as the key route for movement of heavy motor vehicles between Bahraich and Nepalganj (in Nepal).

💥 Other changes include:

– In a Class 6 History textbook, the word “Hindu” has been removed when referring to landlords.

– In a Class 7 History textbook, the term “caste backgrounds” has been replaced with “social backgrounds” when describing the Nayanars.

– In a Class 12 Sociology textbook, references to Scheduled Castes and Tribes being marked by poverty, powerlessness, and social stigma have been removed.

– A section on adivasi struggles and the impact of dams has been edited.

– An image of communal riots has been removed from a Class 12 Sociology textbook.

These changes in the history textbooks reflect the ongoing debates and evolving perspectives on ancient Indian history and the origins of the Harappan Civilisation.
