NATGRID now has 105 Crore Facial Entries for Enhanced Surveillance

The officials said that facial data of around 80 per cent of Indiaโ€™s population would help in tracking criminals.

The facial entries include data captured during Covid-19 pandemic, even when individuals were wearing masks. It is to be noted that the system, which is being used in the NATGRID, is capable of โ€œefficiently accessing and matchingโ€ data of masked faces within minutes.

"One hundred per cent," the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways said when asked whether it is possible for India to get rid of petrol and diesel cars altogether.
