The CMIE data further showed that the urban unemployment rate rose to 10.09 percent in December from 8.96 percent in the previous month, while the rural unemployment rate slipped to 7.44 percent from 7.55 percent. #Jobs

Mahesh Vyas, managing director of the CMIE, said the rise in the unemployment rate was "not as bad as it may seem," as it came on top of a healthy increase in the labour participation rate, which shot up to 40.48 percent in December, the highest in 12 months.

GoM has Established Economic Advisory Council (EAC)

The EAC will play a key role in achieving the goal of a $1-trillion economy. It will function as a private research body with a focus on issues related to agriculture, banking, engineering ,education among others.

The council, which will be led by Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran, will have 21 members.

✓Bain Capital managing director Amit Chandra (share capital from private industries),
