The US Air Force has reached a $2.56 billion agreement with Boeing to build the first two prototypes of the E-7A Wedgetail airborne early warning aircraft.
Delivery of prototypes is scheduled for fiscal year 2028.
The Air Force intends to order a total of 26 E-7As by 2032, completely replacing its E-3 fleet. A production decision on the E-7A is expected in fiscal year 2026.

Luftwaffe chief Lieutenant General Gerhartz and Royal Australian Air Force Air Marshal Chappell have signed a Declaration of Intent that will see the first German pilots arrive in Australia in 2025.
The Luftwaffe aims to meet NATO standards of 180 flight hours per year for each pilot (40 of which are in simulators). However, low aircraft availability has had a negative impact on training.
When pilots are sent to Australia, Luftwaffe trainees are likely to receive advanced flying training at No. 2 Flying School at RAF Pearce in Western Australia. Pilot training and tactics are provided at an introductory course with training in simulators, followed by training in the Hawk Mk 127 at RAF Pearce in Australia and RAF Williamtown in New South Wales.
