βπ·πΊ RUSSIA β Small anti-submarine ships of the Pacific Fleet "Metel" and "Koreets" conducted a joint anti-submarine exercise in the Sea of Japan.
The ships completed a set of tasks to search for and destroy a mock enemy submarine with the combined use of anti-submarine weapons.
The ships' combat crews worked out an algorithm of actions for the use of jet depth charges and torpedo weapons.
Air support during the search for the βenemyβ submarine was provided by the Ka-27PL anti-submarine helicopter from the Pacific Fleet naval aviation.
The role of the βenemyβ submarine was performed by one of the diesel-electric submarines of the Pacific Fleet. The submariners practiced all the elements of avoiding tracking and overcoming the mine danger.

The US and Japan have estimated the total cost of jointly developing a new type of missile capable of intercepting hypersonic weapons will exceed $3 billion, a Defense Department official said Thursday.
Of the total, Japan will allocate $1 billion to the Glide Phase Interceptor project, according to the official from the U.S. Missile Defense Agency. The two countries are aiming to complete the missile's development by the 2030s.
The project comes at a time when China, North Korea and Russia have been aggressively pursuing hypersonic capabilities
