Midsummer (Solstice) Invocation
The Defend Atlanta Forest Week begins on the Summer Solstice. On the longest day of the year, we lay claim to our own power, celebrate the Sun at the height of his, and honor the powerful dead who walked this hallowed ground before us. We will call on their strength and offer our own to preserve this place, and the memory of their lives spent here. We will be paying respect to both the Muscogee Creek and the farm prisoners in the ritual, and asking for their support of the forest defenders.
