St. Michael Chaplet
In Honor of The Nine Choirs of Angels

Approved by Pope Pius IX in 1851

In 1750, Servant of God, Antónia d'Astónaco, a Portuguese Carmelite sister, revealed that during a vision which she had of St. Michael the Archangel, he requested that he be honored and God glorified by the praying of salutations to the nine Choirs of Angels. He added that whoever would practice this devotion in his honor would have, when approaching Holy Communion, an escort of nine angels chosen from each of the nine Choirs. Also, for those who would recite the Chaplet daily, he promised his continual assistance and that of all the holy angels during life, and after death deliverance from Purgatory for themselves and their relations.

The Chaplet begins with the Invocation (said on the medal, if you have the chaplet beads), after which is said a Salutation, followed by one Our Father and three Hail Marys, sequentially praying for a specific grace and in honor of each of the Nine Choirs of Angels.

Prayer
St. Michael, glorious prince, chief and champion of the Heavenly Host, guardian of the souls of men, conqueror of the rebel angels, steward of the palace of God under Jesus Christ, our worthy leader, endowed with superhuman excellence and virtues: vouchsafe to free us all from every ill, who with full confidence have recourse to thee; and by thy incomparable protection enable us to make progress every day in the faithful service of our God.

℣. Pray for us, most blessed Michael, Prince of the Church of Jesus Christ,
℟. That we may be made worthy of His promises.

Let us pray.

Almighty and Eternal God, who in Thine own marvelous goodness and pity didst, for the common salvation of man, choose the glorious Archangel Michael to be the Prince of the Church: make us worthy, we pray Thee, to be delivered by his beneficent protection from all our enemies, that, at the hour of our death, none of them may approach to harm us; rather do Thou vouchsafe unto us that by the same Archangel Michael, we may be introduced into the presence of Thy most high and divine majesty. Through the merits of the same Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

PRAYER

O
Christ Jesus, I acknowledge Thee to be the King of the universe; all that hath been made is created for Thee. Exercise over me all Thy sovereign rights. I hereby renew the promises of my Baptism, renouncing Satan and all his works and pomps, and I engage myself to lead henceforth a truly Christian life. And in an especial manner do I undertake to bring about the triumph of the rights of God and of Thy Church, so far as in me lies. Divine Heart of Jesus, I offer Thee my poor actions to obtain the acknowledgement by every heart of Thy Sacred kingly power. In such wise may the kingdom of Thy peace be firmly established throughout all the earth.

Amen.

The DE PROFUNDIS
Psalm 129

OUT of the depths I have cried unto Thee, O LORD : LORD hear my voice.
Let Thine ears be attentive : to the voice of my supplication.
If Thou, O LORD, shalt mark our iniquities : LORD, who can abide it?
For with Thee there is mercy : and by reason of Thy law I have waited on Thee, O LORD.
My soul hath waited on His word : my soul hath hoped in the LORD.
From morning watch even unto night : let Israel hope in the LORD.
For with the LORD there is mercy : and with Him is plenteous redemption.
And He shall redeem Israel : from all his iniquities.

℣. Eternal rest give to them, O LORD,
℟. And let perpetual light shine upon them.

i. 100 Days, to all the faithful, every time that, at the sound of the bell at nightfall, they say devotedly on their knees the Psalm De profitndis or Pater, Ave and Requiem aeternam.

ii. Plenary, once a year, if said daily.

N.B.—In places where no bell is rung, these Indulgences may be gained by reciting the above at nightfall.

DE profundis clamavi ad te, DOMINE : * DOMINE, exaudi vocem meam.
Fiant aures tuæ intendentes * in vocem deprecationis meæ.
Si iniquitates observaveris, DOMINE : * DOMINE, quis sustinebit?

A custodia matutina usquae ad noctem * speret Israel in DOMINO.
Quia apud DOMINUM misericordia * et copiosa apud eum redemptio.
Et ipse redimet Israel * ex omnibus iniquitatibus ejus.

Lord, have mercy on the Poor Holy Souls.
Prayer to Our Suffering Savior for the Holy Souls in Purgatory

O most sweet Jesus,
through the bloody sweat
which Thou didst suffer
in the Garden of Gethsemane,
have mercy on these Blessed Souls.
Have mercy on them.
Have mercy on them, O Lord.

O most sweet Jesus,
through the pains
which Thou didst suffer
during Thy most cruel scourging,
have mercy on them.
Have mercy on them, O Lord.

O most sweet Jesus,
through the pains
which Thou didst suffer
in Thy most painful crowning with thorns,
have mercy on them.
Have mercy on them, O Lord.

O most sweet Jesus,
through the pains
which Thou didst suffer
in carrying Thy cross to Calvary,
have mercy on them.
Have mercy on them, O Lord.

O most sweet Jesus,
through the pains
which Thou didst suffer
during Thy most cruel Crucifixion,
have mercy on them.
Have mercy on them, O Lord.

O most sweet Jesus,
through the pains
which Thou didst suffer
in Thy most bitter agony on the Cross,
have mercy on them.
Have mercy on them, O Lord.

O most sweet Jesus,
through the immense pain
which Thou didst suffer
in breathing forth Thy Blessed Soul,
have mercy on them.
Have mercy on them, O Lord.

(Recommend yourself to the Souls in Purgatory and mention your intentions here.)

Blessed Souls,
I have prayed for thee;
I entreat thee, who are so dear to God,
and who are secure of never losing Him,
to pray for me a miserable sinner,
who is in danger of being damned,
and of losing God forever. Amen.

FIRST SATURDAY of NOVEMBER 💙

See my daughter, how my heart is encircled by thorns with which ungrateful men pierce me at every moment by their blasphemies and ingratitude. You, at least, try to console me, and announce that I promise to assist at the hour of death, with the graces necessary for salvation, all those who on the First Saturdays of five consecutive months, confess, receive Holy Communion, recite part of My Rosary, and keep me company for a quarter of an hour, meditating on its mysteries with the intention of offering me reparation.” ~ Words of Our Lady to Sr. Marie (Lucia dos Santos) on December 10, 1925

If possible, make First Saturday devotions today, in reparation for offenses against the Immaculate Heart of Mary, as requested by Our Lady herself in 1925, and confirmed by Our Lord in 1927.
