ACT OF CONSECRATION
TO THE IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY

O Immaculate Heart of Mary, Queen of Heaven and Earth, and tender Mother of men, in accordance with Thy ardent wish made known at Fatima, I consecrate to Thy Immaculate Heart myself, my brethren, my country and the whole human race.

Reign over us, Most Holy Mother of God, and teach us how to make the Heart of Thy Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, reign and triumph in us even as It has reigned and triumphed in Thee.

Reign over us, Most Blessed Virgin, that we may be Thine in prosperity and in adversity, in joy and in sorrow, in health and in sickness, in life and in death.

O most compassionate Heart of Mary, Queen of Heaven, watch over our minds and hearts and preserve them from the impurity which Thou didst lament so sorrowfully at Fatima. Assist us in imitating Thee in all things, especially purity. Help us to call down upon our country and upon the whole world the peace of God in justice and charity.

Therefore, Most Gracious Virgin and Mother, I hereby promise to imitate Thy virtues by the practice of a true Christian life without regard to human respect.

I resolve to receive Holy Communion regularly and to offer to Thee five decades of the Rosary each day, together with my sacrifices, in the spirit of reparation and penance.

Amen.

O that I may learn to praise thee, most sacred Virgin!

Prayer of St. Hildefonsus

O MY Sovereign, and Mother of my God, thou art blessed amongst all women, pure amongst all virgins, and queen of all the heavenly host: all nations call thee blessed. Vouchsafe that I may publish as much as possible thy greatness, that I may love thee to the utmost of my power, and that I may serve thee with all the capacity of my soul.

Amen.

Refuge of sinners, take pity on me.

Prayer of St. Ephraim

O QUEEN of the universe, and most bountiful sovereign! thou art the great advocate of sinners, the sure port of those who have suffered shipwreck, the resource of the world, the ransom of captives, the solace of the weak, the comfort of the afflicted, the refuge and salvation of every creature. O! full of grace! enlighten my understanding, and loosen my tongue, that I may recount thy praises, and sing to thee that angelical salutation which thou dost so justly merit. Hail! thou who art the peace, the joy, the consolation of the whole world! Hail! Paradise of delight, the sure asylum of all who are in danger, the source of grace, the mediatrix between God and man!

A Prayer to Redeem Lost Time

O my God! Source of all mercy! I acknowledge Thy sovereign power. While recalling the wasted years that are past, I believe that Thou, Lord, can in an instant turn this loss to gain. Miserable as I am, yet I firmly believe that Thou canst do all things. Please restore to me the time lost, giving me Thy grace, both now and in the future, that I may appear before Thee in ‘wedding garments.’

Amen.

ACT of REPARATION
Most pleasing to the blessed Virgin Mary

While St. Gertrude was bewailing her negligence in that she had never served the Mother of Jesus with due reverence, and was beseeching our Lord to supply her lack of service, she seemed to see the King of Glory arise and present his deific Heart to his Mother, and therewith to make amends for all her negligence. To obtain a like grace, recite the following prayer.

O SWEETEST Jesus, by that love wherewith Thou didst deign to take our flesh of the most pure Virgin and of her to be born, that Thou mightiest satisfy the desires of the poor and the wants of the needy, I beseech Thee that Thou wouldst vouchsafe to make amends to Thy ever-virgin Mother, with Thine own sweetest Heart, for all the manifold defects which through my own negligence and ingratitude have tainted and marred my service and honor of so gentle and loving a Mother, whose gracious succor has never failed me in any danger or necessity. Do, then, O most tender Jesus, present to her Thy sweetest Heart, overflowing with ineffable blessedness, in reparation of this my neglect. Let her see therein all the divine love whereby Thou didst from all eternity freely elect her to be Thy Mother; didst preserve her from all taint of original sin, and incomparably adorn her with all graces and all virtues. Let her see therein all the tenderness wherewith Thou didst cling to her when she cherished Thee, her Child, in her bosom; all the constant unfailing love, with which, during the whole time of Thy sojourn on earth, Thou, Who art the ruler of heaven and earth, didst obey her as a son his mother; and especially in the hour of Thy death, when, as though forgetting Thine own intolerable anguish, and touched to the heart by her desolation, Thou didst provide for her a guardian and a son. Let her see therein that love beyond thought with which Thou didst show her how precious she is in Thy sight, when on the day of her most joyous Assumption Thou didst exalt her high above all the choirs of angels, and crown her Lady and Queen of heaven and earth. And thus, O good Jesus, may she be still to me a long suffering Mother, and both and in life and in death, my compassionate advocate and patroness.

Amen.

HOW to PASS the DAY in a HOLY MANNER

i.
Wherever you go, whatever you do, be always like one who walks in the presence of God. Remember that He is present everywhere, that His eye follows you everywhere, and that He knows your most secret thoughts.

ii.
Begin everything you undertake with a good intention, and keep in mind the words of the Apostle : "Whether you eat or drink, or whatever else you do, do all to the glory of God."— 1 Cor. x. 31.

AT WORK
Before you begin your work, say, "All for thee O Lord; O my Jesus, all for thee!"

IN TEMPTATION
When you are tempted to anger say, "O my Jesus, give me patience! Bless me, Mary, my Mother!"

If wicked thoughts come in your mind, say quickly—"Jesus and Mary help me!" Repeat the Hail Mary or some other prayer until you have banished them.

AN ACT OF CONTRITION

O DREAD Lord, and most indulgent Father of mercies, I, a wretched worm, have sinned against heaven and before Thee, and am no more worthy to be called Thy servant, much less to be accounted Thy child, having repaid so much bounty with contempt, and so many benefits with ingratitude. Where shall I find punishment enough to atone for my sins, or tears enough to wash out my iniquities? Alas! I grieve not merely at those pains which I have deserved for my sins; it pierces my very heart that I have offended a God who ought to be beloved and honoured above all things. What shall I say, O Lord, in detestation of the crimes I have committed? What shall I do to prevent my future relapse? Father, from henceforth the face of sin shall be more hideous to me than hell, and the least shadow of it more frightful than death. Forgive, O Almighty Lord, forgive, and have not the sins of my past life in remembrance. Why should the mighty Lord of heaven and earth be in wrath against so poor, so contemptible an object? Behold me, O God, not in Thine anger, but according to the tender bowels of Thy infinite mercy; for thou art our Father, and we are Thy children; thou art our Maker, and we are as clay in Thy hands; thou canst, with those waters drawn from the fountains of our blessed Saviour, cleanse our iniquities, and with the mixture of one drop of His most precious blood mould us again into vessels of honour. Of Thee only, O merciful Father, I beg and hope for pardon; upon Thee only do I call and depend for assistance, that I may hereafter constantly serve Thee with a true and faithful obedience, and inseparably adhere to Thee with a pure and perfect love for ever.

Amen.

A PETITION to OUR LADY

M
ost holy Virgin Immaculate, my Mother Mary, to thee who art the Mother of my Lord, the queen of the universe, the advocate, the hope, the refuge of sinners, I who am the most miserable of all sinners, have recourse this day. I venerate thee, great queen, and I thank thee for the many graces thou hast bestowed upon me even unto this day; in particular for having delivered me from the hell which I have so often deserved by my sins. I love thee, most dear Lady; and for the love I bear thee, I promise to serve thee willingly forever and to do what I can to make thee loved by others also. I place in thee all my hopes for salvation; accept me as thy servant and shelter me under thy mantle, thou who art the Mother of mercy. And since thou art so powerful with God, deliver me from all temptations, or at least obtain for me the strength to overcome them until death. From thee I implore a true love for Jesus Christ. Through thee I hope to die a holy death. My dear Mother, by the love thou bearest to Almighty God, I pray thee to assist me always, but most of all at the last moment of my life. Forsake me not then, until thou shalt see me safe in heaven, there to bless thee and sing of thy mercies through all eternity. Such is my hope.

Amen.

PRAYER TO THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY

Most holy Virgin, Mother of the Incarnate Word, treasure-house of grace, and refuge of us wretched sinners, with lively faith we have recourse to thy motherly love, and ask of thee the grace of ever doing God's will and thine. In thy most holy hands we place our hearts, and of thee we ask health of body and soul; and as we have the sure hope that thou, our loving Mother, wilt hear us, we say to thee with lively faith:
Hail Mary, three times.

Let us Pray.

Defend, we beseech Thee, O Lord, through the intercession of the Blessed Mary, ever virgin, Thy servants from all infirmity; and mercifully deign to guard them, prostrate in the sincerity of their hearts before Thee, against the snares of the enemy. Through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
