Tension escalated in Manipur’s Ukhrul district after armed militants allegedly set fire to Tangkhul Naga houses in Litan Sareikhong and nearby Kuki homes on February 9, following stone-pelting clashes on Sunday.

Ukhrul DM Asish Das imposed BNSS Section 163 from 7 pm on February 8, while additional security forces were deployed to contain the unrest triggered by the assaults.

Former Pakistan Army Chief Gen (Retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa was injured after reportedly slipping in the bathroom at his residence early Tuesday morning. He has been shifted to the ICU of a local hospital with multiple injuries, including a head injury, family sources said.
