Important Self-Reliance policies of Indian Defence sector
1. Corporatization of Ordnance Factory Board (OFB)
Recently, Indian Prime Minister has created 7 new PSUs by dissolving the erstwhile OFB.
The 7 new PSUs are:
* Munitions India Ltd.
* Armoured Vehicles Nigam Ltd.
* Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Ltd.
• Troop Comforts Ltd.
• Yantra India Ltd.
* India Optel Ltd.
* Gliders India Ltd.
2. Revised Foreign Direct Investment Limit
The FDI limit in defence manufacturing through automatic route (without prior approval of MoD) has been raised from 49% to 74%.
3. Defence Industrial Corridor
The government is setting up two Defence Industrials corridors, one each in Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
4. Setting up of Project Management Unit (PMU)
A PMU is being set up by Ministry of Defence with the objective to speed up decision making and make acquisition process faster.

NSA Doval With Putin on Maintaining 🇮🇳-🇷🇺 Ties
✓ Bilateral and regional issues were high on the agenda as the NSA Chief met the Russian President, with both parties agreeing to continue work on implementing the India-Russia strategic partnership.
✓ Doval also met with visiting NSAs for the fifth multilateral meeting on Afghanistan, with Moscow stressing the need to avoid escalations in the aftermath of 🇺🇸 leaving the country 20 years after invading.
“The situation in (Afghanistan) is not improving and we see this. The humanitarian situation is worsening,” said Putin to the visiting NSAs.

✓ All surface combatants of the Indian Navy including Destroyers, Frigates, Corvettes as well as submarines and aircraft are put through complex maritime operational deployments to validate and refine the Navy’s Concept of Operations
✓ Conducted in different phases, both in harbor and at sea, surrounding various facets of combat operations, including live weapon firings

✓ Provides an opportunity to test the combat readiness of the combined Fleets of the Indian Navy to operate in a multi-threat environment
