US Immigration and Customs Enforcement is seeking bids for a private company to run a migrant holding facility at the US naval base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, according to a government contract solicitation.
"The service provider shall be responsible to maintain on site the necessary equipment to erect temporary housing facilities for populations that exceed 120 and up to 400 migrants in a surge event," and at least 10% of personnel should be fluent in Spanish and Haitian Creole, the contract solicitation first reported by NBC says.
Journalist Glenn Greenwald took to Twitter to point out the glaring hypocritical optics: “Imagine if Trump proposed hiring private contractors to imprison Haitian immigrants in Guantanamo.”

Saudi Arabia allows first-ever women in National Day parade
To celebrate the renaming of the country in 1932, Saudi Arabia celebrated on Thursday with the annual National Day military parade - and for the first time ever, women took part.
Female recruits were allowed into the Saudi armed forces for the first time in February this year, including in combat roles, although they cannot be married to foreign citizens.
The decision comes as part of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s Vision 2030 initiative to improve gender equality.
