South Africa Opens Genocide Case Against Israel At ICJ

South Africa has filed an application to open proceedings at the International Court of Justice against Israel for allegedly violating the Genocide Convention in its campaign in Gaza.

Israel hit back at the claims made in the filing by insisting that it is in fact South Africa that is calling “for the destruction of the state of Israel”, despite US President Joe Biden describing the aerial bombardment of Gaza as “indiscriminate”.

The application came as IDF officials declared it was expanding operation in southern Gaza, to where it had previously urged civilians to evacuate.
