⚔️ Summer Offensive Campaigns. Summary. The katsaps

🔄 Today, we'll analyze both our and the enemy's summer campaigns. Broadly, the front line has remained unchanged since November '22, when the enemy withdrew from the right bank of the Kherson region. The enemy's retreat across the Dnipro River was unexpected but marked the last strategic change in the front. You might mention the fights for Bakhmut, which drained significant resources from both sides but didn't lead to any strategic changes.

🇷🇺 Let's start with the enemy's offensive on the Svatove direction, which began in May with the loss of Masiutivka by our forces. The enemy advanced on multiple fronts: Masiutivka-Vilshana, Novoselivske-Kolomyichyha, Raihorodka-Novovodyane, and Serebryansk forestry.

◀️Masiutivka-Vilshana - the katsaps successfully took Masiutivka and pushed our forces back by 2.5 km. Near Vilshana, our frontline position in the village was effectively destroyed, and the front shifted to the vicinity of Synkivka. However, it didn't escalate seriously thanks to reinforcements like the 67th Mechanized Brigade and 95th Air Assault Brigade.

◀️Novoselivske-Kolomyichyha - the enemy managed to concentrate forces for an assault on our "mixed" units, taking Kuzemivka station and two-thirds of Novoselivske. However, transferring the area's control to the 25th Airborne Brigade led to stabilization and halted the enemy advance.

◀️Raihorodka-Novovodyane - in July, the katsaps launched a heavy infantry assault with technological support, causing serious damage to our units in that sector. Poor preparation and lax security were the main reasons for our losses. The introduction of the 68th Jaeger Brigade and newly-formed 43rd Mechanized Brigade averted a potential tragedy.

◀️Serebryansk forestry - the enemy continues to launch assaults throughout 2023. The introduction of a new brigade in early summer caused several issues, which the 95th and other "firefighting" units had to address. The "Azov" brigade has now arrived, reducing the enemy's chances of success. But the katsaps achieved two minor goals: creating a buffer zone for Kreminna and deteriorating our strategic position in Bilohorivka. We're effectively squeezed from three sides.

🔄 Conclusion. Without additional personnel and quick equipment replenishment, the enemy stands little chance of achieving any strategic success. The only chance they have is to hold onto the captured territories. They'll grab that chance. The muscovites only know how to advance blindly, and they also need resources for that. Occupying Bakhmut may have media value, but it doesn't influence the strategic or even political situation. After the fights for the city, nobody even considered negotiations. On the contrary, the Ukrainian military leadership is motivated to continue combat operations, including for Bakhmut.

⚔️ Summer Offensive Campaigns. Summary. Defense Forces 1/2

👤 In the Defense Forces, there were two strikes this summer – near Bakhmut and in the south. By the way, the southern strike had two locations – targeting Tokmak and cutting off the Vremivka protrusion.

◀️Bakhmut direction - according to spokespersons, the goal is to encircle Bakhmut. In the last four months, south of the city, Andriivka and Klishchiivka were successfully de-occupied, providing opportunities for further strikes towards the highway to Horlivka. The situation is not so good on the northern front, where initially everything started quite successfully, but a strategic mistake to advance into the fortified lowlands of Berkhivka proved costly. The initiative there has even switched to the enemy side now. Attempts to breach the enemy's defense near Zaliznyansky and Rozdolivka did not yield significant success. Bakhmut is not surrounded, contrary to media claims. For the enemy, it is a stronghold where thousands of f***ers are concentrated. It's worth mentioning the collaboration with the 3rd, 5th, and 80th brigades, which under the cover of "Adam" Joint Tactical Group achieved success now being capitalized upon by all media outlets.

◀️South. Vremivka Protrusion - the task of cutting off the protrusion was successfully carried out, although nothing more was achieved. In the first month, there were enough images on the network of our damaged columns from newly formed brigades, which were supposed to break through the defense in a Guderian-Gota style. The tragedy of the 37th Marine Brigade near Novodonetsk also negatively impacted the situation. Due to mistakes made on June 5-7, all subsequent offensive actions were extremely difficult. Other brigades had to incur unnecessary losses, as the enemy's armored fist from Kermenchik disrupted all plans in that direction.

◀️ South. Robotyne - the Robotyne operation, initially planned for just a few days, stretched over three months and attracted attention not just in Ukraine but globally. Even a drunkard in the muscovy suburbs understood the significance of Leopards and Bradleys appearing near Mala Tokmachka. However, hoping for a blitzkrieg was futile. The katsaps considered this area as a likely breakthrough point for us, and accordingly, it had been dug up and mined during winter and spring. Official communication also played a nasty joke. While in May, katsaps in Tokmak were saying goodbye to their families, the first images of damaged Leopards instilled fear in us as well. Consider the situation with two top tanks that instead of providing infantry cover went into the bushes to simulate being stuck.

🔽By mid-August, the enemy started to retreat and introduce reserves. Our troops showed much heroism: deep penetrations ended up being rolled back due to the lack of success on the flanks. At least two such instances are known. Robotyne came under our control, but we have so far failed to expand it by taking Verbove and Kopani, or to drive the wedge deeper. The latter is a consequence of the former, as we continue to suffer losses in equipment due to the peculiarities of the frontline. Lastly, it's worth mentioning the 47th Mechanized Brigade, which became a victim of its own media exposure. The brigade truly showed the best performance among the newly formed ones, often acted coolly and did not retreat. Over time, the issue of excessive media exposure was resolved. In September, it was reported that the brigade commander Staff was replaced. Regardless, blaming him would be unfair. He and his brigade were driving forces in that direction.

⚔️ Summer Offensive Campaigns. Summary. Defense Forces 2/2

🔄 Conclusion. It was a tough summer for the Defense Forces, but the defensive campaign for Bakhmut was no walk in the park either. Of course, we didn't achieve strategic successes, but the Robotyne protrusion holds potential. The only condition is time, and there's practically none. A new defensive line is already being built east of Tokmak. The enemy is fortifying the Krasna Polyana-Volnovaha-Donetsk line. Never underestimate the enemy's engineering capabilities. On the other hand, 2023 demonstrated the superiority of Ukrainian infantry in equal battles. Where there was a lack of intelligence and artillery, the quality of infantry evened things out. The summer has shown that the war will not end on our terms in 2024. Ukraine needs to prepare for new challenges that will have to be faced soon.
