I’ll be posting later today. Today is my husband’s birthday. He’s still in hospital, but off the oxygen. Things are improving. He’s a tough guy. So I’ll be handing off the balloons and poster, since they won’t let me in his room. 😢

THE SMITH-MUNDT ACT of 1948:
“US Information and Education Act.”
On January 27, 1948, Harry Truman signed into law, “The Smith-Mundt Act.”
The U.S. State Department and Office of Public Affairs were authorized to disseminate propaganda to foreign countries via the Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG), Voice of America (VOA), and Radio Free Europe (RFE).
HOWEVER, they were strictly prohibited from releasing that same propaganda in America for public consumption.
In other words…our government was permitted to lie to people in other countries, but not to us here at home.

In Summary, by reading and understanding the basics of The Smith-Mundt Modernization Act, we can now understand how all forms of media have been getting away with lies and propaganda.
