Georgia Power Eminent Domain Plan Sparks Backlash Over Data Center Expansion

A Georgia homeowner says she has been informed that part of her property, along with surrounding homes, may be taken through eminent domain by Georgia Power to build high-voltage transmission lines supporting new data centers. She claims the project could lead to demolition of trees, outdoor structures, and even neighboring houses, with power lines running as close as 12 feet from her bedroom. According to reports, more than 330 private properties are affected. Georgia Power says it will negotiate purchases and easements where possible but may use eminent domain to strengthen the electrical grid to meet rising energy demand from expanding data center development across the state.
