No surprise…
Aspartame was acquired by Monsanto in 1985.
For 16 years the FDA refused to approve its use for consumption.
But then in 1981 Commissioner Arthur Hayes overruled the objections of a Public Board of Inquiry, and the protests of the American Soft Drink Association.
Then the FDA made a
turn-around... and blessed it.
The tests submitted by Searle were so bad that the Department of Justice initiated prosecution of Searle for fraud. The case dragged on long enough that the statute of limitations ran out.

Nestlé and other companies enlisted the help of the staff in hospitals around the world.…they would provide free samples of their product and pay the nurses and doctors to push this artificial baby milk onto the mothers as soon as the babies were born, often keeping the newborns away from the mothers so breastfeeding was nearly an impossibility…
