Uranium and plutonium were the two elements that were crucial to OAK RIDGE and The Manhattan Project.

What is your take on what these elements are capable of?

This is what we were told.

The facilities at OAKRIDGE were:

1. the S-50 plant…partially enrich uranium.

2. K-25, would receive this uranium and further enrich it through gaseous diffusion.

3. Then, the Y-12 plant would enrich the uranium product even further.

4. The fully enriched plutonium would be used use
in the X-10 graphite reactor, the first continuously-operated nuclear reactor ever built!!
