Yesterday we talked about the connection between The Philadelphia Experiment that took place in 1943….and The Montauk Project that took place 40 years later.

The Montauk Project is way bigger than what we presented a few years ago. Way bigger!!

We need to hover over these two Experiments/Projects this week to cover just how big they really were.

Let’s start with PLUM ISLAND.

PLUM ISLAND is home to a testing and research facility that specializes in dangerous animal pathogens.

PLUM ISLAND used to be the home to FORT TERRY and Building 257

Fort Terry was built around 1911.

The original goal of
Building 257 was to store weapons; stockpile mines, explosives, and the materials needed for tanks and torpedos.

During World War 2,
Fort Terry served as a •barrack,
•scientist processing plant, &
•food and supply depot. 

After World War II, the Fort at PLUM ISLAND was deactivated and scrubbed clean.

It stayed close for over 7 years until it was reactivated in 1952 as a center for the
Army Chemical Corps

The Army Chemical Corps, acquired Fort Terry on
Plum Island, and became the go-to facility for biological warfare research.

They had a secret lab…
LAB 257…devoted to animal testing and studies.

“The goal was to create diseases that would attack an enemy’s livestock, hence weaken its supply and food chain”.

•was opened in the 1950s under the US Department of Agriculture. USDA

•It has been under the control of the Department of Homeland Security since 2003 (Manhattan, Kansas).
