Now we get to Allene Gano, Howard Hughes Jr.’s mother.

I found this passage from the Howard Hughes book cleverly placed:
“She was calm and not easily ruffled except when a cat came into the room with her! She had an intense fear of animals and was known to faint when one got near her.”

I do believe this was a hint that was inserted into the book! Lol.

We all know cats can see spirits…good and bad. The fact that the mother wasn’t calm around cats says a lot about Allene.

Generational family > mother inverted?

Now let’s move onto
Howard Hughes Jr.’s father and his background.

Judge FELIX HUGHES…Howard Hughes Jr.’s grandfather (Howard Sr.’s father)was:

•The Superintendent of Lancaster, Missouri schools.

•a powerful attorney who tried civil and criminal cases on behalf of the RAILROAD SYNDICATES in Missouri.

•President of
Kiokuk & Western Railway.

Eventually he also became the Mayor and a Judge in Kiokuk, Iowa.

Railroad Syndicates…that’s what it said in the book.

What do you think about those railroads syndicates? This was in the late 1800s.

We know about railroads not being a good thing.

I’m assuming this “bloodline” had been trafficking children for a long, long time. Starting with the Railroads.

Judge Felix Hughes and his wife Mimi went on to have 4 children…including their second oldest child,
HOWARD HUGHES SR.

The family had slated for HOWARD HUGHES SR. to follow his father Felix into law.

Howard Hughes Sr. went to Harvard…but only for a year…much to the disappointment of his father Felix.

He returned to Iowa and then enrolled in law school at Iowa State University.

He didn’t finish school but did pass the BAR exam. He eventually joined his father’s law practice, but in time he rebelled and left both his father’s law practice and the town of Kiokuk…and went to find work in the local mines.

Howard Hughes Sr. flitted from one mine to the next, including silver, zinc, and lead…seeking his fortune “UNDER THE SURFACE OF THE EARTH.”

Double meaning??

“…the road toward the center is still Virgin soil.”

Then came the big event in Texas…

On January 10, 1901,
mining engineer, Captain Anthony Francis Lucas, drilled into the Texas prairie near Beaumont, Texas and STRUCK OIL!!

The name of this monstrous oil strike on January 10, 1901 was called SPINDLETOP. It was the greatest oil well of its time.

The oil gushed in a 150’ arc. The oil well ran wild for
9 days, until Lucas could cap it!

After Howard Hughes Sr heard about the SPINDLETOP discovery he said,

“I heard the roar in Joplin and made for the seat of disturbance. Beaumont in those days was no place for a Divinity student. The reek of oil was everywhere. It filled the air, it painted the houses, it choked the lungs and stained men’s souls. Such another excitement will not be seen for a generation. It will take that length of time to get together an equal number of fools and “come-ons” at one spot. I turned greaser and sunk into the thick of it.
Roughneck, owner, disowner, promoter, capitalist, and “mark”— with each I can claim kin, for I have stood in the steps of each.”

From Spindletop, Howard Hughes Sr. followed the crowd from one strike to another…learning the ins and outs of the industry, while applying the knowledge of drilling he had picked up in mining ore to tap oil reservoirs.

On May 24, 1904 Howard Hughes Sr. and Allene Gano were married in Dallas.

I found the underlined word-choice, “flamboyant”interesting.

Was the author trying to tell us something about Howard Sr?

As we mentioned earlier, Howard Hughes Jr. was (allegedly) born on December 24, 1905.

When Howard was little, the family moved from Houston to Oil City, Louisiana.

It was here that Howard Sr trace went to oil fields to wildcat for oil. He also doubled as the town’s postmaster and sheriff.

Postmaster and sheriff. Seemingly had a lot of power in town.
