Getting back to Alcatraz…

Back in the mid 1800s, Alcatraz was used as a heavily fortified Military site.

Because of the isolation created by the cold, strong currents of the waters of San Francisco Bay, Alcatraz was used to house soldiers convicted of crimes.

By 1863 they allowed private citizens convicted of treason to be imprisoned at Alcatraz.

Alcatraz became a Federal Penitentiary in 1933.

“33”…hmm.

Alcatraz was designed to hold prisoners who continuously caused trouble at other federal prisons.

During its 29 years of operation, the the ALCATRAZ penitentiary claimed that no prisoner successfully escaped. That’s what they say.

A total of 36 prisoners made 14 escape attempts.

Perhaps the most famous escape from Alcatraz, is the intricate escape carried out on June 11, 1962, by
Frank Morris,
John Anglin, and
Clarence Anglin.

The three men were believed to have drowned in their attempt. Did they??

On March 21st, 1963 Attorney General Robert “Bobby” Kennedy (JFK’s brother) shut down Alcatraz due to:

1. The men who escaped
2. Salt Water erosion
3. Expenses.

After the closure GEORGE MOSCONE received bids to repurpose Alcatraz.

You all remember George Moscone?

As a reminder, George Moscone was the San Francisco mayor who was murdered alongside SF Supervisor, Harvey Milk.

This happened on 11/27/1978.

Dianne Feinstein then replaced Moscone as the mayor of San Francisco.

Interesting that George Moscone’s father, George Sr., was a Correction Officer at San Quintin…a maximum security prison that is also located on the San Francisco Bay.

George Moscone went to St Ignatius College Prep.

St Ignatius is a JESUIT school.

Did you know that George Moscone…along with Governor Jerry Brown and Assemblyman, Willy Brown repealed California’s SODOMY LAW?

Why?

Moscone also engaged in election fraud by bussing people in from Glide Memorial and The People’s Temple from out of town.
