On July 5th 1947, something crashed on the Foster Ranch in south-central New Mexico.

The site was 30 miles away from the town of Corona.

And it was 75 miles northwest of the larger town of Roswell.

Here is Foster Ranch in relation to Roswell and White Sands.

Anyone know about White Sands?

What that object was,

What the government said it was, and

What the public thought it could be….

all varies.

UFOs don’t necessarily mean from “outer space.” It simply means UNIDENTIFIED flying object.

The Roswell crash happened to occur right at the beginning of what would be the “UFO craze.”

What else happened in 1947?👇👇

The first ‘reported’ UFO 🛸 siting happened in 1947 near Mt. Rainier by pilot Kenneth Arnold. He coined the name ‘flying saucers’ after seeing 9 flying discs. Of course, Fort Lewis military base is close to Mt. Rainier.

On June 24, 1947…2 weeks before the famous Roswell crash…the “Kennth Arnold UFO sighting” happened.

This was the first post-World War II sighting in the US that got nationwide news coverage.

It was also the first of the modern era of UFO sightings
👍21
Pilot, Kenneth Arnold claimed that he saw a string of nine, shiny unidentified flying objects flying past Mount Rainier at speeds that Arnold claimed to be 1,200 miles an hour.
👍24
Arnold described what he saw
as white spheres that “skipped like saucers.”

He didn’t say they were flying saucers. He said they “skipped like saucers.”

☝️Allegedly “story-hungry reporters” took the “flying saucer” angle and ran with it in their stories. This was false!!

Two weeks later something went down at Foster Ranch in New Mexico.

On that night of something crashing at Foster Ranch, a big thunderstorm had moved over the Foster Ranch in New Mexico, where Mac Brazel was in charge of overseeing the ranch.

Among the lighting strikes hitting the ground, Mac Brazel noticed one was different…it sounded more like an explosion!

FOSTER RANCH

The next day Mac Brazel, his 8 year old son Vern, and Vern’s friend and neighbor, William “Dee” Proctor, were checking the fences for damage or that which needed repairs.

Mac was a foreman at the Foster Ranch.

They came upon an area that was covered with shiny pieces, and bits of something they didn’t recognize.

The material covered a large area that spanned a couple of small hills.

Was this scene the result of the “explosion” Mac had hear the night before?

Brazel’s first description to the press was that he found “strips of papery material that were covered with shiny foil.”

Brazil also said he found broken strips of lightweight wood and plastic…some of which had odd symbols on it, and spongy bits of rubber.

Brazel thought the debris looked like a broken kite.

Allegedly Mac Brazel then gathered up some of the debris, and then came back later with his wife and children to collect some more.

They then stored the material in a shed.

Mac’s daughter, Betty described what she saw in a 1979 interview.
