On July 5th 1947, something crashed on the Foster Ranch in south-central New Mexico.

The site was 30 miles away from the town of Corona.

And it was 75 miles northwest of the larger town of Roswell.

Anyone know about White Sands?

What that object was,

What the government said it was, and

What the public thought it could be….

all varies.

UFOs don’t necessarily mean from “outer space.” It simply means UNIDENTIFIED flying object.

The Roswell crash happened to occur right at the beginning of what would be the “UFO craze.”

The first ‘reported’ UFO 🛸 siting happened in 1947 near Mt. Rainier by pilot Kenneth Arnold. He coined the name ‘flying saucers’ after seeing 9 flying discs. Of course, Fort Lewis military base is close to Mt. Rainier.

On June 24, 1947…2 weeks before the famous Roswell crash…the “Kennth Arnold UFO sighting” happened.

This was the first post-World War II sighting in the US that got nationwide news coverage.

It was also the first of the modern era of UFO sightings

Pilot, Kenneth Arnold claimed that he saw a string of nine, shiny unidentified flying objects flying past Mount Rainier at speeds that Arnold claimed to be 1,200 miles an hour.

Arnold described what he saw
as white spheres that “skipped like saucers.”

He didn’t say they were flying saucers. He said they “skipped like saucers.”
