I’ll be in and out today. Yesterday we started discussions about Marilyn Monroe aka Norma Jeane Mortenson.
There is a lot to cover on her so we will take it in bits.

There similarities between Jane Mansfield and Marilyn Monroe.
Both were blonde bombshells
Both were credited with sexualizing Hollywood
Both were Playboy Playmates
Both were part of Blue Book Modeling Agency
Both were Presidential models (more on that later)
Both died in their 30s.

The United Service Organizations (USO) is nonprofit that provides live entertainment to members of the Armed Forces. This was supposed to boost morale.

Started in 1941. They worked with the Department of War and the DOD.

Remember the “Bob Hope” disclosure?

Being away from home can be repetitive and monotonous for soldiers.

In the early 1940s, the United States decided that their troops overseas should receive some entertainment. To accomplish that goal the USO was formed

The USO’s biggest star was BOB HOPE.

The main event of the USO were the camp shows.
