"My decision was largely driven by my passion, though it was somewhat influenced by the seniors who had already joined the department.
During my internship, I encountered a patient with a radioulnar fracture who had undergone a beautifully executed plate fixation abroad. When I saw her X-ray, I was astonished. Even though the surgery was relatively simple, it was rare at that time to find a patient who had received such treatment.
6 years ago, as an intern at UoG, most patients were treated with POP, external fixation, and traction. Today, most fractures can be fixed at UoG. I am continually impressed by the rapid growth of the Orthopedics department. During my time as a GP in a rural area of Ethiopia, I noticed that many challenges children face are due to insufficient immunization and malnutrition. I chose pediatrics with the aim of directly reducing childhood mortality in my country by providing proper guidance on nutrition, feeding, and vaccination.
As a pediatric final year Resident, I assist parents in nurturing their children into healthy individuals.
If you have a passion for working with children and are motivated by the dynamic nature of this field, which spans from newborns to adolescents, then pediatrics could be the ideal choice for you.

Our elders, drawing from their experience, warn us the various consequences of being active on social media while studying medicine.
"You can't miss 1 answer in front of Residents/Seniors; TikTok แแญ แจแแตแแแ แ แณแแขแ!" Theyโll use that against you.
Sure, we need to prioritize & balance, but the idea of suppressing your unique talents out of fear is as good as killing your spirit.
Because of this mindset, many of my friends avoid extracurricular activities, leadership roles, & donโt pursue their other dreams through social media.
Many warned me to tone down my online presence, fearing the potential consequences.
Honestly, I could have achieved even more if I felt safer!

When the time came to choose a residency, I began searching for a specialty where I could combine my passion for both art and medicine. I discovered that plastic and reconstructive surgery is the most artistic specialty, and I was fortunate enough to join the field. Ever since, I continuously strive to find the artistry in my work.
